Marini-Gioia Institute of Higher Education

The Marini-Gioia Institute of Higher Education, established in 1954 is located in Amalfi (SA). The Institute comprises three high school branches (Classical, Scientific, Linguistic) and a technical tourist program spread across three sites (Amalfi, Atrani, Minori, Vietri sul Mare), accommodating 798 students across 37 classes.

Given the area's strong tourist focus (a UNESCO heritage site since 1997), the Institute aligns its priorities with local needs. It ensures that the tourist program equips students with middle management skills desired by local businesses, resulting in a high student employment rate within a year of graduation. For high school programs, it places emphasis on strengthening logical-mathematical skills to better prepare students for their chosen career paths. The strategic role of the three high schools and the Technical Institute for Tourism for the growth of the territory is fundamental. Since the 1950s, in this territory, the four addresses of the current I.I.S.S. “Marini-Gioia” have operated in Amalfi with seriousness and dedication for the humanistic and technical-tourism training of young people.

The school has recently become part of the Erasmus+ program, recently opening more to structured internationalization initiatives. Beyond Erasmus+, the institute has a variety of international collaborations aimed at enhancing foreign language studies through internships, work-study alternation, cultural exchanges, and broadening students' cultural horizons. Notable experiences include participation in the Comenius Project in Antwerp (BE), cultural exchanges with the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt Gymnasium (EMAG) school in Herberg Am Harz, Germany, language internships in Malta, linguistic programs in Oxford (UK) and Brighton (UK), cultural exchanges with the Italian High School of Istanbul, linguistic internships in Salamanca (ESP), ASL projects in Augsburg (DE) and Dublin (IRL), and an ongoing cultural exchange with the Hopkins School in New Haven, USA.
