Lizdeika Gymnasium
Lizdeika Gymnasium is a four-year upper secondary school providing secondary education for students aged 15 to 19.gymnasium in the town offering upper secondary education. Currently, the gymnasium has a staff of 64 teachers and enrolls 632 students.
Lizdeika Gymnasium excels in instilling values like tolerance, social awareness, and critical thinking in its students, emphasizing positive community values. The gymnasium prioritizes the development of essential 21st-century skills, acknowledging that beyond academic achievements, general competencies like social responsibility, tolerance, self-confidence, and critical and creative thinking are of utmost importance in today's world. The gymnasium acknowledges that these competencies and skills are best acquired through non-traditional, non-formal activities. To this end, the gymnasium has established a strong presence in international projects, with students actively participating in activities like performances, musicals, and rock operas. In an effort to enhance the teaching of science subjects, teachers organize classes in diverse environments, and a STEAM lab has been set up.
Lizdeika Gymnasium actively participates in Erasmus+ projects, fostering teacher development and student exchanges. It collaborates with schools in the Netherlands, Finland, India, and Argentina, broadening students' global perspectives and understanding of social values, responsibility, and citizenship. As a member of the European Parliament Schools network for five years, the gymnasium engages in EU-related activities and initiatives. To promote active citizenship and boost self-confidence, the gymnasium introduced the Active Citizenship program, a product of an Erasmus+ strategic partnership. It also offers optional programs like philosophy, English debating, and social entrepreneurship, stemming from the Erasmus+ project "Student Today – Responsible Entrepreneur Tomorrow.
